The Sound Discoveries CDs were created as part of an educational package used in the Cincinnati area schools. The Orchestra provided audio excerpts and supporting teaching materials for the works it presented in its Young People's Concert series.

 DCI obtained all appropriate mechanical licenses. DCI negotiated with Naxos of America, who generously agreed to contribute the musical content free of charge. DCI produced the final master.
