Public Radio Select Selection Process

SELECTION PROCESS

Classical titles for the monthly mailing are based on a variety of factors,
including the quality of the music, and its appropriateness to the intended
audience. From month to month, PRS balances the following factors:

1) Familiar verses lesser known composers
2) The nationality of the composer
3) The various style periods of music, from early through Baroque,
Classical, Romantic, and 20th Century/Contemporary
4) The forces involved - orchestral, chamber, solo instrument
5) Vocal and choral music verses orchestral and instrumental works
6) Keeping the variety of labels as large as possible

Some of these factors are tempered by reality. Certain recordings are
sometimes unavailable at the price we can offer the labels. Since we must
turn the product order in four weeks, we tend to avoid labels that have
proved unreliable in shipping in a timely fashion.

SUGGESTIONS

We always welcome suggestions for titles from our clients! Depending
on the order cycle, it may take a while to work in, but as much as possible, we want to reflect our clients programming.

BACKORDERS AND OTHER NO-NOS

Remember, this is a monthly premium service, not a record club. The subscriber can not pick which titles or kind of titles will be sent. This is just a monthly "thank-you" gift for their generosity.

Since we order the quantity needed for each mailing, there is no back stock. If a subscriber does not receive a disc, we will replace it. Subscribers cannot, however, request titles from previous months. Each month is a surprise, and once the mailing has shipped, so has the opportunity to get that recording (at least from us).
